Saving Money on Food Shopping at Uni
Saving Money on Food Shopping Shopping at the right places and making the most out of good deals when food shopping at university can save a lot of money. Everyone needs to eat and by getting your food for a reasonable price, it means you can spend saved money on doing stuff you enjoy whether thats going out with friends, online shopping, or whatever you enjoy spending money on! I am going to suggest the top 3 (in my opinion) best loyalty schemes offered by supermarkets and the benefits they offer; No. 1 - Lidl Plus Not only is Lidl one of the cheapest supermarkets around, it has a wide variety of amazing offers through its app, Lidl Plus. It is very simple to sign up, you simply download the app, create an account and the benefits are endless! Lidl Plus Benefits - Free in-store bakery sweet treat when you spend just £10 in a month, to an incredible 10% off your next shop when you hit £250. There are also rewards for spending £50, £150, and £200 from free fresh fruit and veg to free bottles of pop and even free sweets! Lidl Bakery Spin, Every day during selected time periods, you get the chance to spin the wheel and earn rewards, these can be anything from free fresh baked cookies to baguettes! The Lidl Plus app also offers hundreds of different coupons each week that allow you to receive deals on certain items , keep your eye out for coupons that take your interest! These are only a select few of the benefits offered by Lidl Plus more can be found out using this link https://www.lidl.co.uk/c/lidl-plus/s10023095 . It really is great value for money. No. 2 - Tesco Clubcard Tescos Club-card is another good way to save money on food shops. With a large amount of stores from big supermarkets to express stores, you can almost guarantee there to be one near by you! Again, the Tesco Club-card is very easy to get by just downloading the app, creating an account and the offers are right there at your fingertips. Tesco Club-card Benefits - Collect points when spending on Fuel, Food, Fashion and more! With every £1 spent earning you 1 point. Once accumulated these points can be turned into vouchers to get money off your Tesco shop, donated to charity or receive 2x more value with Tescos 100+ Reward Partners. Points don't have to be used only in Tesco, they can be used for other things such as at Petrol Stations, Disney plus, EasyJet and many more. Tescos partners can be found here https://secure.tesco.com/clubcard/browse/search-results/all-items?icid=CCSV_CTA_Reward_Partners?icid=CCSV_CTA_Reward_Partners?icid=CCSV_CTA_Reward_Partners?icid=CCSV_CTA_Reward_Partners Certain items in the store have a set ClubCard price that can only be accessed with a ClubCard. Prices of items when you don't have a ClubCard can be a lot more expensive so it does make a difference when you scan the ClubCard. Like Lidl Plus this is just a snippet of the benefits offered by the Tesco ClubCard and all the many other benefits can be found using this link https://secure.tesco.com/clubcard/about No. 3 - Sainsbury's Nectar Card - The Sainsbury's Nectar Card has a similar concept to the Tesco ClubCard. Points are accumulated when you shop and can be used for lots of different things. Sainsbury's also have many stores and express stores so in cities you can likely find a few dotted around. Again, easy to get a hold of by simply downloading the app, creating an account and then can you start building up the Nectar points! Sainsbury's Nectar Card Benefits - £1 is equivalent to £0.50, so not as good as the Tesco ClubCard but is still beneficial and still adds up over time. Points can be used to turn into vouchers to get money off your shop or they can be saved to use on bigger treats such as getaways with British Airways! Sainsbury's also have many different partners that you can use your points with. The variety of companies can be found here https://www.nectar.com/about/privacy-and-legal/participating-companies . Many different brands such as Asos, Dominoes, JustEat etc also accept Nectar points. Like the Tesco ClubCard, certain items have specific Nectar prices and without a Nectar Card items can be up to double the price! The Sainsbury's Nectar Card is still a very beneficial way to save money however, it is not as good value as the Tesco ClubCard or Lidl Plus and this is why I have placed it number 3. To find out more about the Nectar Card, follow this link, https://www.nectar.com/ . Although it can take a while to accumulate enough points to actually be able to do anything with them, It always pays off when you can get your shopping for free or treat yourself to new clothes or products for free or at a heavily discounted price. I have found using these loyalty schemes extremely helpful and I have most definitely saved money since starting university!
