Student life can be filled with challenges and hardships; from the stress of looming deadlines and the endless hours of studying to the struggles of budgeting with the ever-rising cost of living. It can sometimes be easy to forget about the perks of being a student (aside from gaining a degree and experiencing all of the fun that university has to offer!). One of the main perks of being a student is being entitled to student discounts. Although not offered everywhere, many companies give students great discounts and exclusive offers! I would recommend creating an account on both of these sites to view all of the available student discounts on each platform.   Here are some of my personal favourite deals which you won't want to miss:   Student Essentials Spotify - Listening to music or podcasts can be a great way to relax and focus when studying. Spotify offers a brilliant 50% discount for premium for students, making this just £5.99 per month. All you need to do is verify your student status – follow this link to activate your account.   Microsoft Office 365 - Microsoft offers free download of Microsoft Office 365 for students at the University of Glasgow (and many other Universities and colleges), for the duration of your degree. This is extremely useful as you can access all Microsoft Office apps and keep everything on your OneDrive account, a cloud storage platform keeping your files secure. You can also log into your account on any computer in the University – so don't worry if you can't always access your laptop, if you save anything to your OneDrive you can log in anywhere and pick up where you left off. The university website has lots of useful information about this – University of Glasgow - MyGlasgow - IT - Office 365 - Getting Office   Waterstones - for book-lovers, be sure to make use of the 10% student discount available at Waterstones. You can also get a Waterstones Plus Student Card - a loyalty card which gains a stamp for each book you purchase and once you have gained 10 stamps, you will receive £10 on your balance to spend. View their offers here!  Travel Bus Travel - If you are aged under 22 and live in Scotland, you are entitled to free bus travel on most services across Scotland. This is a great money-saver for students, especially those who commute to university! You can apply here! Train Travel - You can save 1/3 on rail travel if you are aged 16-25 or studying full time by buying a railcard for just £30. There are many other railcard options which may suit you better, so it's a good idea to do some research. You can find out more and purchase one here!   Subway Travel - Although there isn't a student discount for travel on the Glasgow Subway, you can register for a Subway Smartcard. This is completely free and will allow you to access the best prices. Register for your Subway Smartcard here!    Food and Drink There are many restaurants and cafes in Glasgow which offer discounts, plus some online food delivery services too!
